I have met many people over here at Slowly. I’ve been on this app for a couple of years now. Some people I have met personally, some have turned into friends and some even family. While it is common to be rejected a reply, I can say that Slowly has really opened my eyes to a lot of philosophies and understandings from different cultures all over the world.

One friend particularly stood out from the rest. Although I’ve met people from all around the world, this guy was from my city. I managed to send him a letter due to his unique nickname. For personal reasons, I won’t disclose his nickname or even name for that matter, but I will call him S.

I met S on the 2nd of July 2019. I saw that it only took 30 minutes to send him a letter. He was from my city, working as a developer at the time. I never met him, but our friendship was the highlight of my year. From letters to texts to late night calls, S always had something fun to share. While we did pass through a huddle of problems, in the end, I always ended up talking to him again. Sadly, that didn’t last long enough for S to become family. Things came up and we had to part ways.

I always think of how he’s doing. I even check on his Instagram from time to time to see how life’s treating him. I knew he always had some sort of self esteem issue, and back then I was to naive to realize that I can’t fix him. I wish he and I still stayed as friends, maybe he and I could’ve grown together. But it never happened, and things got real bad. I still miss him to this day, and I hope he’s doing well.

S, if you’re reading this, I don’t know where you are now, but you’ve been a great friend to me. I’m sorry for the way I treated you the last few letters we’ve sent before our hard goodbye, but just know I do forgive you. I’m sorry things had to end this way.

To anyone reading this, always tell your friends you love them, even during the hard times. I’d like to thank Slowly for connecting me to S and to the rest of the people in my life who stayed. Slowly does form great friendships, and it does only take a few letters to start one. Thank you for reading.
