Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum
Vietnam
The imposing granite structure in Hanoi's Ba Dinh Square holds the embalmed body of the revered Vietnamese leader, Ho Chi Minh. Inspired by Lenin's mausoleum in Moscow, this stoic edifice features a blend of Soviet architectural influences and traditional Vietnamese elements. Adorning its façade with the words "Chủ tịch Hồ Chí Minh," meaning "President Ho Chi Minh," the mausoleum stands as a testament to his enduring legacy. Interestingly, despite his wish for a simple cremation, this grand monument was constructed to honour his pivotal role in Vietnam's independence. The complex is imbued with a solemn atmosphere, surrounded by picturesque gardens.
