Big Buddha
Hong Kong
Perched majestically atop the verdant hills of Lantau Island, the colossal Tian Tan Buddha is one of Hong Kong’s most iconic sites. Standing at 34 metres and weighing over 250 metric tonnes, this exquisite bronze statue elegantly combines artistic splendour with spiritual significance. Visitors ascend 268 steps to reach the statue, where peaceful views of the lush landscape unfold. Interestingly, this grand Buddha faces north, a unique feature, as most other representations face south. Completed in 1993, the statue symbolises the harmonious relationship between humans and nature, making it a beacon of calm and contemplation for travellers worldwide.
