I’m writing to share our story and thank the team at Slowly for the amazing work that you do!
My name is Joel from Singapore, and I met my fiancée, Ling through Slowly. This is story:
On the fateful date 6 years ago, on the 1st of October 2018, Ling sent Joel a letter through Slowly. She was looking to transition into studying design and was interested in getting to know others who are in the field. Joel on the other hand, was looking further beyond the horizons, hoping to connect with the locals of other countries intending to gain insights into their local culture. Aptly under the moniker, Serendipitous, he received the letter from Ling, who was interested to get to know him and his journey through architecture school. Ironically, letters were exchanged between them quickly, as they soon connected on a deep level, waiting 35mins eagerly to open the letter every time a letter was sent. Slowly connected them through the multitude of shared interest, allowing each letter to be layered, detailed and meticulously penned out. They found beauty in long form. Soon after, they also found the longing to meet each other physically and connect through the length and depth of the conversations they held through each letter they exchanged. From strangers, to online penpals, to best friends, and now onwards to life companions.
We would like to thank the team at Slowly for connecting the world, for allowing stories such as ours to form and blossom, and for providing opportunities for serendipitous encounters! We will begin our journey as a couple on 21st Sep 2024, and the theme and colour scheme (coincidentally each of our favourite colours) for our wedding will be based on Slowly!
