観音埼灯台
Beautiful Lighthouses
Kannonzaki Lighthouse, established on February 11, 1869, is Japan's first Western-style lighthouse, located on Cape Kannon in Yokosuka, Kanagawa Prefecture. The original brick structure was rebuilt in reinforced concrete after earthquake damage in 1922 and 1923. The current 19-meter-tall octagonal tower emits two white flashes every 15 seconds, visible up to 19 nautical miles, guiding vessels through Tokyo Bay.
