The markhor (Capra falconeri) is Pakistan’s national animal and is found in its mountainous regions. Known for its impressive spiral horns, which can grow up to 160 cm, the markhor’s name means “snake eater” in Persian. Once endangered, conservation efforts have helped increase its population in recent years.
