I wanted to share my experience on Slowly—an unexpected but meaningful journey that’s made the world feel a little less vast. This platform has given me something I didn’t know I needed: genuine connections, one letter at a time.

My journey started a while back when I stumbled across Slowly, looking for a space to meet people who appreciate a good conversation, where every word isn’t rushed or reduced to a 5-second text. At first, I wasn’t quite sure what to expect. After all, who really writes letters in this digital age? But I decided to give it a shot, hoping to connect with a few kindred spirits. And wow, did Slowly deliver. 📬

One of my first letters was to someone in a completely different time zone, thousands of miles away. We started exchanging stories—small ones at first: favorite books, thoughts on music, and those random, quirky moments that make us feel human. Over time, the letters grew longer, more thoughtful, as we discovered shared passions for poetry, travel, and finding meaning in life’s little nuances. I even found myself discussing the trials of parenthood with a stranger on the other side of the world, which, as a father to an 18-year-old, became a surprisingly comforting connection. ✨

One memorable letter exchange was with someone who had a penchant for classic literature. Our conversations were an endless dance of words, dissecting everything from the most profound quotes to the silliest misunderstandings. We’ve since exchanged countless letters, and though I’ve never heard her voice, there’s a familiarity that feels like an old friend’s presence. She even introduced me to a few classical pieces that have now become my study companions. 🎶

And then there was the Kenyan pen pal who swept me into her world of vibrant cultures, wildlife, and endless optimism. She taught me a bit of Swahili, though I’m still miles away from mastering it. We laughed over our different worlds and found common ground in our shared love of storytelling, family, and, surprisingly, popcorn (there’s an art to eating it with straws, I promise). 🦒🍿

I came to Slowly thinking I might find a few interesting conversations. What I discovered were friendships that have stretched across continents, turned into digital penmanship, and helped me feel a bit more anchored in this fast-paced world. Each letter exchange has brought me closer to understanding not just others but myself, too. 💌

So, thank you, Slowly, for this journey. For helping me connect with people who love to share, to listen, and to discover. I’m still writing, still learning, and still finding pieces of myself in every story shared with strangers who are now friends.

Here’s to many more letters, to the art of patience, and to the magic of words that bring us all a little closer.

Cool Cool,
Edgar 🤓

P.S. Did you know that the first-ever adhesive postage stamp, the “Penny Black,” was issued in 1840? It changed the way we communicate forever—kind of like Slowly is doing now, but with fewer horses involved. 🐴📬
