The Oriental magpie-robin (Copsychus saularis), locally known as the “doel” (দোয়েল), is the national bird of Bangladesh. Renowned for its melodious song, this small black and white bird is commonly found in gardens and forests across the country. The “Doel Square” in Dhaka features a sculpture honoring this cherished species.
