Slowly Stamp
Dziady
Traditional Slavic observance honouring ancestors
In this Slavic ancestor tradition, the living offered food and hospitality to the spirits of the dead. Meals near graves and other rituals expressed the belief that ancestors could return at particular times of year. The custom also inspired Adam Mickiewicz’s dramatic poem about encounters between villagers and spirits.
