The 가야금 (gayageum) is a traditional Korean string instrument with 12 strings made of silk or gut. It's unique for its long, wooden body and distinct sound, which is plucked with fingers. Originating from the ancient Gaya confederacy, the gayageum is often used in court music, folk songs, and contemporary pieces.
