Baltukai

The first postage stamp of Lithuania, issued in 1918

Baltukai were Lithuania’s first postage stamps, issued in Vilnius on 27 December 1918, soon after the country restored its independence. They were simple 10 and 15 skatikų stamps marked “Lietuvos pašta.” Because of urgent need, they were printed overnight on newspaper paper at Martynas Kukta’s printing house.
All Slowly stamps are hand-drawn by illustrators.
