Gandantegchinlen Monastery
Gandantegchinlen Monastery, in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia, is a large and important Buddhist monastery. It features a striking mix of traditional Mongolian and Tibetan architecture. Established in 1809, it houses a massive statue of Avalokitesvara. The monastery survived purges in the 20th century and remains a center of Buddhist learning and worship today.
