Old Panama, also known as Panama Viejo, is a historic area in Panama City. It features the ruins of the original Panama City, founded in 1519. The area includes impressive remnants of colonial buildings, like a cathedral tower, and was an important shipping hub in the Spanish Empire. It was partly destroyed by pirate Henry Morgan in 1671. Today, it's a UNESCO World Heritage Site and a fascinating glimpse into Panama's past.
