Crescent and Stars was part of Pakistan’s first new stamp issue, released on 9 July 1948 for the first anniversary of independence. Designed by artist Abdur Rahman Chughtai, it used the crescent and star, now key symbols of Pakistan, with the slogan “Pakistan Zindabad,” meaning “Long live Pakistan.”
