Hejnał mariacki
According to legend, the Hejnał Mariacki was played by a watchman in Kraków to warn the city of a Mongol attack. As he sounded the alarm from St. Mary’s Church, an enemy arrow struck him mid-melody. Since then, the tune is played daily, stopping suddenly to honor his sacrifice.
