Slowly Story

Some stories are born from a glance.
Ours was born from a letter.

When I met Mabel here on Slowly, I was living in Japan and she was in Belgium. Two different worlds, two distant time zones, two lives that never imagined crossing paths, until one letter changed everything.

At first, they were just shy words, full of curiosity and the desire to know each other. But little by little, each letter became more than just a message. It was a piece of soul being sent through the mail of time. And time took care of us with tenderness.

Letter after letter, we built something that could no longer fit inside screens. There was affection between the lines, laughter that crossed maps, and silences that spoke louder than any word. Slowly taught us how to slow down. And without hurry, love arrived.

Over time, our conversations evolved: we had video calls, met virtually for picnics, and even cooked together through the screens. Each moment brought us closer, even though we were still in different countries.

Looking back now, it still feels like a dream to say that we met here, among virtual stamps and anxious waits.
But the dream became real when we met in Brazil, at the end of August.
Those were days full of discoveries: the sound of the voice I had only read, the touch of the hands I had only imagined, the smile that had accompanied me for so long, even from afar. We stayed together until early October, and every second was proof that love can cross continents when it’s true.

And now, I’m going to Belgium to be even closer to her. In a few months, we are going to get married — but shhh, don’t tell anyone! We want to keep this secret just for ourselves for now 😂🥹

This letter is a thank-you to Slowly, for connecting improbable destinies.
And to Mabel, for being the most beautiful coincidence of my life.

May this story remind you that love doesn’t need to rush.
Sometimes it comes slowly, letter by letter, until it becomes what it was always meant to be.
