Slowly Story

When I first downloaded Slowly, I didn’t know what I was looking for. Maybe a distraction. Maybe proof that there were people out there who could see me for who I really am. I didn’t expect to find either — and I definitely didn’t expect to find both.

The first surprise came in the form of a letter from Germany. His words were simple at first — small talk about music, life, and the weather — but they carried a sincerity that made me slow down when reading them. As the letters grew longer, the pauses between them started to feel like holding your breath underwater, waiting to surface. One day, his message arrived with a sentence I read three times before I let it sink in: “You’re my soulmate.”

I had never been called that before. It wasn’t about romance — it was about being understood. It was about the rare, quiet relief of knowing someone’s mind could run parallel to yours, no matter the distance. His words reminded me that connection doesn’t always require touch or sight — sometimes it’s simply two thoughts meeting halfway across the world.

Months later, a new pen pal appeared — this time from Turkey. He was lively, curious, and full of unexpected metaphors. He described my personality in a way that caught me completely off guard: “You’re out of this world.”

At first I laughed, but later, sitting alone with the letter, I realized how deeply it touched me. It wasn’t just flattery — it was recognition. The kind you don’t get every day. The kind that makes you stand a little taller.

These two people will probably never meet each other, but in my mind, their words stand side by side like bookends holding up a chapter of my life. They didn’t just make me feel special; they reminded me that there’s more kindness and connection in the world than we sometimes allow ourselves to believe.

Slowly taught me that even in the smallest messages, there’s a chance to leave someone lighter than you found them. And for that, I’ll always be grateful.
