I always thought it cool to have friends from around the world. I am quite a peculiar girl, and usually don’t fit in with what most people want in a friend. I am extremely extroverted, laugh at the most banal things, I have a huge obsession with musical theatre and history (and France, don’t ask me why, it doesn’t make sense), but at the end of all, I just want to have a deep conversation and share my dreams, passions, life and thoughts with someone who understands me.
After a few pen-palling apps tried, I just couldn’t find someone. Every time, it just felt like there was something missing. Then I downloaded Slowly.
At the beginning, nobody really sent me letters, and the ones who did, I just didn’t connect with, as usual, and with a few letters, the friendship just broke apart and it just never worked.
Then I decided to try automatch. I never had before, and I had nothing to lose, so…
Wrote my letter, selected that I only wanted it to be sent to one person, and pressed the button.
Then I met him.
He is French, an introvert, kind of the complete opposite of me in personality, and we connected in just about every way possible.
Our letters are long, drawn out paragraphs, about everything, from literature, to philosophy, to politics, moral, movies, his travels, dreams, wishes, my mess of feelings, and so much more.
We have met about 2 months ago, and shared 20 letters. I get impatient every time the notification that he is sending me a new letter appears. I spend hours a day thinking about what to write next.
I don’t think I ever connected with someone so deeply ever. So thank you Slowly for giving me the opportunity to meet this beautiful soul.
Thank you for being my friend, Valerian.
