Isn’t it amusing how close of a relationship you can develop just over words?

As a journalist, I love getting to know more about people and how they experience life. Slowly, however, allowed me to go beyond what I expected.

Deep down, I think everyone longs to find out what's beyond the confines of their own culture—the huge world at large.

It all started with "Saudações cara compatriota!" ("Greetings my fellow compatriot!") and in total, we ended up exchanging 103 letters.

By simply letting our personalities flow through our letters, we were able to convey to others who we are despite the distance.

They listen to me vent, they reassure me and I know that eventually everything will be okay.

The best thing she ever told me is that she is looking forward to the day when we could exchange a letter in Korean :)

When I started interacting with people again, I noticed that I was able to have better conversations, and connect to people on a deeper level.

Maybe not all people are interested in this topic. But compared with the instant chats, writing here is more healing for my soul. I feel accepted in the decent way of talking.

Slowly is the best place for shy and talkative people for building friendships. Slowly also allows me to learn other foreign languages...
