Slowly Story

I joined Slowly out of curiosity. I didn’t expect anything deep — maybe just a few fun letters, short conversations with strangers, nothing too serious. But Slowly turned out to be something I didn’t know I needed. It felt like a breath of fresh air in a world that moves too fast.

Through Slowly, I met people of all ages and from all walks of life. Some were older than me, some younger, and some from places I had only ever read about. I met people from across the world, and also someone from my own country — someone I now call a real friend.

We’ve been talking for almost a year now. Even though we sometimes take weeks or months to reply, the connection never fades. And that’s what makes it special. There’s no rush, no pressure. It’s just two people sharing life slowly — through stories, rants, dreams, and worries. Sometimes I write at night when my mind’s heavy, and just putting words down feels like therapy.

My penpal from my country became the one I share my thoughts with the most. I tell her about my day, my stress from school, even the little things like how tired I am after events or how happy I was seeing the sunset. She’s a stranger turned safe space.

It’s crazy to think that through a simple letter exchange app, I found emotional support from people I’ve never met. These friendships don’t rely on fast replies or daily updates — just honesty and patience. And that means so much.

Slowly reminded me that connection isn’t about how fast you talk, but how deeply you listen. It taught me that kindness can travel across oceans, and that letters can be more comforting than instant messages.

In a way, Slowly became my quiet place — a space where I could just be myself and still be heard. And for that, I’ll always be thankful.
