I’ve been wanting to share my story for a long time.
I’ve used Slowly for about a year or two, but only became truly active this year. This app has honestly changed my life. At first, I wrote a simple open letter without expecting much. Many people responded, but only one letter truly caught my attention. The way he wrote felt like looking into a mirror of myself. His name is Dhiyanesh, and he’s from India.
Letter after letter, I realized how much we had in common. What I want to share is how he helped me through my most difficult times. He gave me the light that no one’s ever gave me. Strangely enough, I found myself being more open with him, a stranger I couldn’t even meet, than with my own family. I could tell him so many things, and, in return, received thoughtful and encouraging feedback. He accepts me for who I am. He has saved me again and again, pulling me out of the darkest valleys. We are very similar, and we truly rely on each other.
For me, exchanging more than five letters with someone was already extraordinary. In all my time using Slowly, I had never found anyone as compatible as Dhiyanesh. And now, in just three months, we’ve exchanged 50 letters. Maybe for some, this is nothing unusual, but for me, it’s an achievement I’m really proud of.
I’ve seen stories of people who started writing on Slowly, kept in touch for years, and eventually even met in person. I still can’t believe things like that actually happen. Those stories motivate me to keep going.
I don’t know what more to say, except that I’m deeply grateful to the creators of Slowly. “Thank you” will never be enough.
Oh, and also, I have one friend from French from this app, and we already been chatting for a year.
I just think that, maybe some people meant for each other. It was so unexpected. A pleasant surprise.
