Why do people nowadays keep sending letters? Isn’t there an easier way to send messages instantly by using social media? Why waste so much time on something that’s irrelevant and most likely to have gone lost in the middle of nowhere?
I love writing letters. I do and still, write letters to my colleagues around the world. Japan, China, USA, and Turkey are some of the countries those letters have arrived in. Although melodramatic events might happen as a norm in the past, these days it’s never about how fast are both sides going to respond to each other, but the message it contains gives the ultimate weight. It’s the idea to convey feelings, thoughts, or experiences to your loved ones in short, but concise sentences so that there will not be a single word in vain. And it’s the bide, the beautiful expectation, waiting for another letter that carries the purpose of writing a letter.
We’re too accustomed to the modern tech media that can instantly deliver messages in a blink, that sometimes we even do forget what it truly means to be a good messenger. The immediate capability of modern humans to just send, send and send messages to everyone they like, even the instant button to just delete what has been said, to just undo what has been seen, viewed, or even condemned by the others. We, modern humans, are forgetting how meaningful it’s to send a message. To send meaningful texts to your loved ones, to encourage people in their dark times, to say, “you are more than capable to do this!” or even to just poke your old pal and say, “happy birthday, boy”. Sometimes it’s just the right time to let it all go and back to where we used to be.
Slowly has invited us to reminisce the art to just passionately wait, until the extraordinary arrives.
I hope you have a great day, and stay safe out there. Cheers.
