Plato was an Ancient Greek philosopher, born around 427/428 BC in Athens. He was a student of Socrates and teacher of Aristotle. Plato founded the Academy in Athens, one of the earliest institutions of higher learning. He is famous for his works on philosophy, politics, and ethics, including "The Republic."
